So before we apply this firmware update, you need to make sure that your device is rooted and installed with the TWRP recovery image. This new firmware update comes with the new interface which is completely based on the AOSP version and also gives the true android look and not the metro UI look of native Microsoft. Note: Apply this firmware only to your Nokia X Android smartphone and not in other Nokia Android smartphones.

Quick Pre Requisites:

  • Create a manual backup of all the data present in your Nokia X android smartphone so as to make sure that just in case if the data gets lost or corrupted, the same can be restored with the help of simple steps.

SMS – Use “ SMS Backup & Restore app”,
Contacts –  Sync with the Gmail application,
Call Log - Call Log and Restore
Images, Songs, Videos, Files – Copy to internal / External SD Card,

Procedure to Update NOKIA X with Aurora Vanilla Android 4.1.2 custom ROM firmware:

  • After turning off the device, you need to press Volume Button + power button for 15 seconds till the device enters in the recovery mode. If device enters in the Normal mode, then you need to re try the process of entering the device in the Download Mode.
  • In recovery mode, you need to select “install zip from sd card” to choose Aurora Vanilla Android 4.1.2 custom ROM firmware and then Google Apps Package which you have placed in your device. It will take around 4 -5 minutes for applying the update. Once done, select “reboot system now” for rebooting the device in the normal mode.
  • You can check the firmware version from the path Settings > About Phone where the firmware version will be mentioned as Jellybean 4.1.2 Android OS. Very soon we will also be coming out with the Kitkat 4.4.2 custom ROM firmware for Nokia X device.

Note: If at all your Nokia X smartphone gets in the boot loop mode, then you need to turn off the device and then reapply the update from the start. To turn off you can long press the power button and repeat the whole process again.
