SONY Xperia TIPO smartphone can now be rooted and also the boot loader can be unlocked. So, for all those devices who have managed to unlock the boot loader, we will be discussing on a detailed tutorial which will help you in rooting the device. In the next coming days we will be coming up with a host of custom ROM firmwares which will help you to make the most of your smartphone. Once the device is rooted, you can install many custom ROM firmwares which also includes the likes of latest jellybean 4.1.1. Unfortunately, there is no ETA as of now on by when there will be an Official release of Jellybean.

Though it’s not a compulsion but it’s recommended to back up the data with the help of below steps so as to make sure that just in case if the data gets corrupted or erased, the same can be restored with the help of below steps. Alternatively, you can also create a backup using the PC Companion tool.

MS – Use “ SMS Backup & Restore app”,
Contacts –  Sync with the Gmail application,
Call Log - Call Log and Restore
Images, Songs, Videos, Files – Copy to internal / External SD Card,
APN and MMS Settings – Note down from the path “Applications > Settings > Wireless and Network > Mobile Networks > Access Point Names

Minimum battery should be more than 30% and also ensure that all the antivirus / firewall tools in your computer are turned off as these tools generally tend to interrupt the process of rooting. Ensure that your computer has active COM Ports.

  • Now, connect your Xperia TIPO device to the computer with the help of original USB cable and open the “RunMe.bat” executable file which you can get from the extracted files.

Once it’s opened, enter the number “4″ and press Enter to follow the on screen instructions. Once the device is rooted successfully, you will get the prompt in your SONY Tipo smart phone. You can check on whether your phone got rooted or not from the “Root Checker” app which can be downloaded from the Google PLAYS tore.
